I've been asked to run for office next year and don't know if I should?
Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 01:51:42 PM PDT
So even though I've had a username for almost a year I'm still pretty much a lurker. I do most of my volunteering petition passing hobnobbing and etc. in meat world.
I usually post on this website seeking advise when presented with a dilemma about what to do in certain situations. I will attempt to present this diary without presenting personal information and I would like any advice that the community here has to offer. I realize this may not be the best time for local politics given the speech in Berlin but I need some help.
I have been asked to do something, involving the Democratic party; I don't know if I should Updated
Thu May 22, 2008 at 08:20:04 AM PDT
So, my county nominating convention is tonight at 7 in Suffolk. I live in Senate District 1 and we have yet to nominate a candidate against him. I got a call this morning about nominating this guy Greg Fischer for democratic candidate for Senate District One at the County convention tonight.
Here's what will happen in the Media over the next several days. Predictions Open Thread.
Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 11:56:32 AM PDT
It looks likely that Hillary Clinton will win by a small margin in Ohio tonight. And lose by a small margin in Texas. She is going to speak around 7:45 pm ET and declare victory in the race as a whole.
Barack Obama will then come on around 9 p.m. eastern time and declare victory in the race as a whole. In the end her win in Ohio and Rhode Island will not be enought to keep her in the race and Dean, Pelosi and the Superdelegates will force HRC out by the end of the upcoming weekend.
No Bloomberg this year, Thank God
Thu Feb 28, 2008 at 11:27:58 AM PDT
So CBS just announced that Bloomberg isn't running for president and I think its much to late for him to announce a later race entrance. http://www.cbsnews.com/...
The article was published yesterday so someone may have gotten to it already if so my apologies. I wanted to give my opinions on the subject as a New Yorker and a Democrat personally I think this is not that good for us.
Follow me below the fold for my reasons why...
How to save your home from the bank
Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 12:22:53 PM PDT
This diary was inspired by this diary http://www.dailykos.com/...
I know there are lots of desperate people out there and wanted to give some practical advise for rough times.
So I work in a Real Estate law firm and one of the things that we do is fight foreclosures. I know that due to the current economic mess a lot of people are losing their homes. Here is a bit of practical advise on how to avoid losing your home tailored to different situations. If it helps anyone out I'll have accomplished my goal.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice from a lawyer. If you are in real trouble consult a lawyer. That being said I do have some know how so don't ignore all my advise. That being said I've been known to make mistakes anyone who spots one please point it out and I'll edit.
The weirdest local election ever Southampton NY Supervisor
Tue Nov 06, 2007 at 07:05:28 PM PDT
So I don't actually live in Southampton town, but I do work there. It is one of the strangest places on earth currently they are going through quite possibly the strangest election I have ever seen.
There are 3 candidates with strong chances running neck and neck here's how, the incumbent Patrick "Skip" Heaney lost the Republican primary because he is such a piece of corrupt shit even fellow repugs can't stand him. (That's saying a lot) However, he managed to hold onto the conservative line and that means he gets to run as a regular candidate. Linda Kabot is just as bad as Heaney but not as public about it. Jim Henry is a brilliant author and I think his problem is that he's to smart for local politics, I worked for Jim throughout this campaign and probably on his recount tommorrow so I am a little prejudiced.
Follow me down for the current numbers. Its still anybodies race.
Let us hash out primary support
Wed Oct 24, 2007 at 02:35:08 PM PDT
So I've been reading a lot of diaries recently that bashed Obama over the McClurkan thing. And there were a lot of diaries written apparently in response to this bashing HRC.
Now I would like to use this diary as an open forum for debate about the candidates. Below the fold I set forth my position. However, I personally am officially still undecided that means I'm persuadable. So come on lets have a positive argument and by the end of the diary if you persuade me you persuade me, and you'll get my vote, in NY, after everybody already knows who the candidates going to be. So it doesn't matter anyway.
Oh that's one thing I'm sure we need One (1) nationwide primary day screw New Hampshire and Iowa. My opinions on this debate start below the fold.
Help I've been attacked by trolls
Tue Oct 09, 2007 at 09:03:06 PM PDT
They are denying the accusations historically made against the RNC and the Bush family. Please help me defend my diary against them. Please calling all loyal Kossacks, this diary is being attacked by two commenters ticket punch and D nonsense letters and numbers. This is the diary please help: http://www.dailykos.com/... I just want them to leave me alone and answer comments by people with actual debating points.
Listen I don't always write as coherently or as completely edited as should be written in diaries still please just help me with these two people.
Continued history of a crime family: The Bushes
Tue Oct 09, 2007 at 10:14:04 AM PDT
This Diary is a continuation of the history of the Bush family last time I left off with his Grandfather and I will continue with George HW and his sons as well as HW’s other extended family and the misbehavior and chronic deceit and murder of a syndicalized WASP crime family that has been more successful at criminal enterprise and corruption than any characterized Mafioso ever was but to get you to read the rest. Here is a reprint of a letter written GHW’s presidential campaign that he wrote to Barbara Bush. It was reprinted in Harper’s a magazine everyone who reads this should buy so they don’t come after me.
This is Dated 8/8/88 Verbatim (Warning do not read at meal time, no I mean it!)
Sweetsie:
Please Look at how Mike and Kitty[Dukakis] do it. Try to be closer in, more -- well er, romantic -- on camera. I am practicing the loving look, and the creeping hand. Yours for better TV and more demonstrable affection.
Your sweetie-pie-coo-coo.
Love ya,
G.B.

A real selective service
Mon Oct 01, 2007 at 07:53:18 AM PDT
Most of us realize that the Iraq war is wrong. But for most of us this hasn't been brought home, not in the way Vietnam seems to be in the history books. Now personally I'm lucky enough to come from an upper-middle class background, which allowed me to go to a fully funded surburban public education institution and opened a variety of educational oppurtunities for me.
However, recent events have made to things clear to me. 1. The current volunteer army is inadequate to prosecute the war on Iraq, and it unfairly places the burden of military service on the economically disenfranchised. 2. The war will continue until a widespread committment is required by the bulk of the American Populace.
However, for completely selfish reasons a draft scares the hell out of me. I'm 24 and have 3 younger brothers there is no way that at least one or more of us would be drafted so below is a proposed draft that would evectuate a draft that would end the war.
A Brief Family History: The Bushes
Thu Sep 27, 2007 at 09:18:58 AM PDT
When Reagan was running for the Republican primary in the 1980 election he joined up with George HW Bush as his vice-president as a routine primary deal to get a clear convention together.
The history of America is a history of families, the Horatio Alger myth is and always has been a myth most real wealth by real people is built up and then lost over 5 or 6 generations, (3 up and then 3 down). In fact in the strata of the upper middle class and the wealthy especially in families that have been in America for 5 or 6 generations, you can determine someones individual character either through their synthesis or antithesis to their family.
The Bushes are no exception to this rule.

Become a Commitee Person as a Democrat
Mon Sep 24, 2007 at 06:58:59 AM PDT
I haven't been here very long at the Kos and I've noticed a lot of griping about the party. Its fairly doled out in most places but after reading the Diary Titled GBDP I had a need to write my own. This is an instructional guide on how to join the Democrat committee.
Being a committe person is extremely important in most election below the level of congress and even in most higher elections there are no primaries. Candidates are selected by the committees. No here's a fact the DLC doesn't want you to know; the local committee is extremely easy to get on I'm on one but I need help.
Everyone and I mean everyone should get on your committee. The directions that are in the rest of this diary are how we do it in NY but it should be about the same in other states. The basic steps are 1. Get a petition for candidacy from your local board of election. 2. Figure out how your committees are districted. 3. Get 12-20 of your democratic friends and neighbors. 4. Run get that same group of friends to vote for you, (I did it in god old fashioned 19th century fashion, I threw a party afterwards.) 5. Get your other progressive friends to get a majority on the committee 6. elect a progressive to regional committe leadeship positions. 7. Run Progressive candidates.
Getting to Know Your Current Supreme Court Justices.
Thu Sep 20, 2007 at 07:33:29 AM PDT
In a shameless display of my on arrogance on legal matters I've prepared a brief judicial bio on each of the countries 9 Supreme court Justices the court is as evenly split as its ever been and the liberal block is aging faster. I've prepared this summary of each justices political position and their best and worst decisions.
To summarize: The supreme court is up for grabs and we stand to lose a lot more then we stand to gain The Conservative justices are 57, 52, 59 and 71 the liberal justices are 69, 68, 74 and 87 the swing justice Kennedy is 71 it is essential to retain a liberal control over the Supreme court and to do that we need a democratic president for 8 solid years. We may be stuck with Alito, Roberts, and Thomas for at least another decade but lets keep the rest of the repugs out.
This is my first diary and the reason its so long is the 1 week waiting policy has had be writing it for the entire period I did start it on constitution day. Please give me any and all polite contrary analysis of any of my commentary. I will respond also I plan to post case briefs of important modern Supreme court decisions as I’m taking 6 credits of constitutional law this year. If anyone wants me to analyze a specific decision please don’t hesitate to ask
